Ugly and Frustrating

I had this game recommended to me and my first thought was that the graphics were so garish and ugly I couldn’t possibly play this game.

I gave it a go and I really did struggle with the graphics. They’re absolutely horrible and hard on my eyes. I managed to tone down the saturation using Reshade, so while the visuals remain very basic, it was at least bearable to look at.

As for the game. The concept is good and for people who appreciate these styles of puzzles it’s done as well as it can be, but it’s really not for me. I found the gameplay too frustrating and unrewarding. On the whole, the game didn’t engage me at all.

Considering some of the contrary opinions I’ve read on the visuals and the gameplay, I guess it’s an acquired taste. But if you’re like me and deterred by the screenshots, then trust your instincts. There is no hidden magic here. It’s exactly what you expect.

Based on the Biblical story of the Tower of Bable. It’s all about language and connecting people who don’t understand each other. Discovering the meaning of glyphs in 5 different made-up languages is very rewarding and sometimes hard. Beautiful graphics and also a variety of easy little puzzles.

I would have given it 5 stars if the devs had provided the option of rearranging the glyphs.
